WARNING: This post is kinda grody.

I recently received a new battle wound! Jon invited me to join him at the Hula Grill Christmas party where we hung out on the beach playing volleyball and had some delish food! Then we got to go out on the jetskis! We took banana boats over there (falling off a few times of course) and then got to the man-made island/raft where they had all the jetskis. We got to ride for about 30-40mins. Right as I was getting close to the end I decided "I'll do onnnne more loop..." (always the worst thing to do.

I was having fun getting the jetski moving quick and then cranking it to get a good spray going. I did this but happened to catch a wave funny at the same time. Not sure how, but I launched over the front of the jetski, smacking my right arm hard against the rear-view mirror area. When I came up I said to myself "boy that hurt. And my arm doesn't feel too great."

When I looked at my arm I saw a deep cut into my forearm where blood was gushing and some of the fat/tissue was hanging out... not pleasant. Trying to to totally freak, I saw quickly back to the ski and went to the raft. I said "umm... I think I might need to go to the hospital..." and the guys laughed... and then they saw the blood and said "oh... let's get a look at that!" So they rinsed it and gave me some gauze to hold on it. Deeming it "not that bad," we went to shore while people got dumped off the banana boats again. Back to shore we went next door to a small doctors office that wanted payment in full right there... yeah. ok. no.

Then to urgent care where I paid them to tell me I had to go to the ER... on the other side of the island. When the doctor here took a look at it, he pinched the sides of the cut and that separated the skin from the muscle. In doing so you could see pretty far down into the arm!! So sick.

Luckily, Laura and Jon are the best and took me over to the hospital. The doctor/ PA shot me up, irrigated it, and stitched me up nicely (3 stitches)! I asked if they get some gnarly surf wounds and they said they've seen some pretty sick stuff!! Awesome. All in all, it turned out not to be so bad. My main concern wasn't really the cut itself so much as infection. Staph is pretty common out here...

Lesson learned: Why get a tattoo when you can just get a scar?!

WARNING: Don't scroll further unless you want to see the picture of the cut!

Sweeeeeet

Not big... but nice and deep.

All stitched up.
