Bat shit crazy!

Ask me what I did today.
Go ahead...
ok! I'll tell you anyways!

So I started off with the usual routine of waking up around 5:30, getting some miles in, eating a fast breakfast and making a lunch, scurrying to the van and heading to the VMP. When we get to the VMP we have our daily briefing with Bendel and Mike which usually involves them cracking jokes our Ben talking about his 3dollar breakfast.

Today, however, Mike called me out before I could request which job I wanted and he told me I was joining him on the power-washer! Ohhh yeah power washer (In the voice of Tim Allen in Home Improvement)!! So Ellie, Mike and myself went ahead of everyone and started in on some signs and, as I suspected, Mike just wanted to "shoot the shit" (this pun will factor in shortly) with me per usual... which I'm ALWAYS game to do.

As we were coming back to fill up the washer we went under the bridge where all the bats camp out and there was a thick build up of Bat Guano. Taking a nice big wiff, Mike says "Aw heyul, I'm sick of smellin' that shit... we're power-washing that when we come back."

...Talk about a shitty job!

So Ellie, mike and myself proceeded to blast the caked on feces down into the gutter. THEN we got to shovel some of the poop into the drain! WOOO! Lemme tell you... bats make some stinky poop...

During this ordeal (which took about an hour or more), the puns were endless:

Mike: Don't ever tell me I don't know my shit!

Me: "Mike, when I told you I didn't give a shit what we did today... this is not what I had in mind."

And, my personal favorite:

Me: "Ellie, you've got shit in your hair... you're gonna want to wash that out with some shamPOO! HAHA!"

I crack myself up.

Anypoo... I mean who... anywho...
This week has been pretty busy with ISP's and meetings and just plain busy work but overall it's been nice to be in a routine.
Last sunday I decided I wanted to tackle a long run so I ran to the USS Cairo and back. 10 miles!! It felt great! And the best part was when I got to the scenic overlook, there was a wall of fog over the whole valley. I couldn't see more than 10ft in front of me and it was really calm and quiet. SOOOOO awesome.

Other than that, the highlights have been: going to the pourhouse for drinks, getting taught dart skills by a mountain man at the pourhouse, convincing Beth to eat an ant, convincing the rest of my team to eat ants (which I also did... they taste like lemon drops!), and getting lots of compliments from park goers on our work we've done.

Overall: thumbs up to the past week!
